Lactose Intolerance

Q: What is Lactose Intolerance

A: Lactose Intolerant: Many adults and children have trouble digesting lactose (sugar found in milk) and dairy products due to low levels of lactose enzyme. A lactose free diet excludes most dairy products, except:

  • Cheddar cheese has ‘NO’ lactose

  • Butter and margarine have only a ‘trace’ of lactose

If you are following a lactose free diet discuss with your dietitian how you will get adequate calcium and vitamin D in your diet.
